LEZIONE PT.3: OSB + NEON PER ALLESTIMENTI...LESSON PT.3: OSB + NEON FOR ARRANGEMENTS

Questa particolare sezione inizia a descrivere delle vetrine finisce con insegnar qualcosa, come tutti i miei post. Non sono solo un criticone ma cerco di insegnare anche le caratteristiche tecniche e la nomenclatura dei principali strumenti e materiali degli allestimenti che magari vi è capitato spessissime volte di vedere ma a cui non fate caso di solito.

I don't only critique other's people work but by writing this blog I am trying to teach about technical characteristics and the specific wordage to define instruments  and materials used in the field. STELLA McCARTNEY


Le vetrine di Stella presentano dei totem che mi fanno ricordare elementi architettonici luminosi presenti nei loft. 
La struttura è composta da diversi parallelepipedi in orizzontale con un tappo luminoso semiopalino che lascia trapassare la luce in modo tale da rendere essi stessi le lampade della vetrina. Totem luminosi a scopo decorativo in quanto non servono prettamente ad illuminare il capo ma a porlo su uno sfondo dinamico. Dinamicità data sicuramente dalle dimensioni, tutte diverse, dei parallelepipedi e dal loro esser sfalsati l'un con l'altro.


(trans.) In Stella's shop windows there are two totems that remind me of some loft architectonical light elements.
Their structure is made of several horizontal parallelepipeds showing a semi-opaline front which screens the light of the neons inside, transforming them into lamps which softly lighten the window. The purpose of these decorative totems, though, it's not to emphasize the outfits on display, but rather to make the background more dynamic. The movement, in fact, is obtained thanks to the different dimension of the modules and their placement.

Il materiale utilizzato per la struttura dei parallelepipedi è un affascinante legno chiamato OSB.
L'OSB (Oriented Strand Boar, pannello a scaglie orientate) è un pannello tecnico a base di legno costituito da scaglie incollate insieme con una resina sintetica che sono successivamente pressate in diversi strati. Le scaglie degli strati esterni sono in generale orientate longitudinalmente rispetto alla lunghezza del pannello, mentre le scaglie degli strati intermedi sono di solito ripartite trasversalmente.

(trans.) The material that has been used to create the parallelepiped structures is a fascinating kind of wood called OSB.
OSB (aka Oriented Strand Boar) is a technical panel made of wooden chips compacted with a synthetic resin and, then, pressed in different layers. The chips on the external sides are usually oriented lengthwise, while those on the inside are oriented crosswise.

Personalmente mi piace il fatto che la centralina elettrica del neon "Osram" sia stata lasciata a vista in quanto rimane in linea con il carattere giocoso e brutale allo stesso tempo del totem luminoso.

Non trovo particolarmente affascinante, invece, le pareti laterali della vetrina e la sua pavimentazione: piuttosto avrei ricoperto con uno strato in PVC stampato semilucido (in modo da riflettere, non troppo, i totem luminosi).

(trans.) I personally like the fact that the junction box of "Osram" neon has been left exposed, because it is coherent with the playfulness and rawness of the light totem.

I cannot say I feel quite the same about the side walls of the window and its floor: I would have rather have covered it with a semi-glossy layer of printed PVC to reflect the structures, without overwhelming it.
